Exeter City Council is considering building homes on green spaces

In June 2020 the Leader of the council published a paper setting out a number of sites where the council’s development arm, Exeter City Living Limited, is investigating the provision of homes to support the council’s homes building plan.

There are many sites that are brownfield (previously or currently built on), and the Society is unlikely to object to homes being built there. But we have concerns about some of the sites, and are likely to rigorously oppose building on the more sensitive sites – see the press release above for more information. The sites of concern are:

Bonhay Meandow – north of the north Exe bridge.

Arena Park – adjacent to the existing housing development.

Exe Valley Park – land between the canal and river.

Canal Basin – sites of the Exeter Water Sports Association, and Ride-On bicycle recycling
