Then, Now and Next Walk: Discovering Countess Wear

Wednesday 5th August at 14:00-16:00
Start and finish at Countess Wear Village Hall, which is at 28 School Lane, Countess Wear EX2 6LB.
Laurie Fentiman and Angela Goddard who wrote our recently published 'Discovering Exeter' booklet on this area will lead aur walk. So we have a chance to ask questions and get expert answers on what will be more than doing the walk in the booklet on your own. Even if you done the walks there, doing it in company will add a new dimension. You might know that Countess Wear has a fascinating social and industrial history from the medieval period right up to today.

The photo shows the ruins of the Paper Mill in the area.

For public transport, you can use the buses running along Topsham Road and get off at Southbrook Road bus stop, cross the busy Topsham Road where it is safe at the traffic lights a bit further ahead of the stop, walk back and then up School Lane.

There is free parking at George V playing fields on Countess Wear Road, EX2 6LP. You can also park on School Lane if there is space.
