DISCOVERING EXETER: COUNTESS WEAR – A NEW ADDITION TO THE SERIES

Our new booklet in the 'Discovering Exeter' series, 'Discovering Exeter: Countess Wear, number 13' in the series, has now been published. This is an addition to the original series rather than a revision, and has been written by the Countess Wear Heritage Group. It describes the evolution of the village and parish that once lay between Exeter and Topsham from Roman settlements to the building of the Countess Wear and on through industrial and agricultural history into its twentieth-century absorption into Exeter city.

We are very grateful to our member Angela Goddard and her colleague Laurie Fentiman for writing the book.

The Countess Wear Heritage Group has a launch event at Countess Wear village hall on Saturday 7 March with refreshments between 2pm and 4pm with a 30 minute talk at 2.10pm – entry is free.

If you already own copies of the original series (and even if you don’t) you will want to add this one to your collection! It will be available to purchase at the meeting on 21st February – price £5. Copies can be ordered from through our website which lists all the booklets in the series https://exetercivicsociety.org.uk/about-us/shop/discovering-exeter/ or via Web Collect at Exeter Civic Society: Discovering Exeter Second Editions or from Jane Evans  membership@exetercivicsociety.org.uk
